Probation Officer


This is a professional position which requires monitoring the behaviors of individuals who have been placed on supervised probation or pre-trial bond status by a municipal or associate circuit court. The Probation Officer will make referrals and enforce conditions of probation imposed by a court, and must have effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with court personnel, attorneys, treatment agencies, probationers and their families. The Probation Officer must possess the ability to assess the needs/problems of probationers, and must also possess the ability to make appropriate recommendations to the court as to interventions needed which may include revocation of the probation. Work is under the general supervision of the Regional Administrator.

Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology or counseling or closely related field.


High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of two years of experience working in relevant capacity in criminal justice system or closely related field may be substituted for BA/BS Degree.
