Attendant, Medically Monitored Inpatient Detoxification


Heartland Center is seeking a responsible, paraprofessional to work in the supervision and care of clients who evidence chemical dependency or substance abuse problems. Clients are assigned to a medically monitored inpatient detoxification program. It is the responsibility of the attendant to ensure that established procedures and program guidelines are followed and to assist consumers as they begin their recovery efforts.

This employee performs work that involves establishing effective interpersonal relationships with residents, co-workers, and other members of a treatment team. The attendant monitors the well-being of consumers and makes appropriate reports to professional staff, supervises the residential environment, and monitors activities. Work is performed under supervision, however, the employee is expected to perform moderately complex duties without detailed instruction.



1. High school diploma or GED.


2. One (1) or more years of successful work experience in human services, or in the
rehabilitation of persons suffering fro chemical dependency, mental illness, serious
emotional disturbance or similar rehabilitation programs.


3. Two (2) years of successful work experience.
